interesting start to a new year

I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I just saw an interesting movie that has provoked a deep thought (not my Jack Handy). I know that the movie is controversial and seems to be flawed, but with all of the other movies being flawed, I don't know why this one should be getting more weight put on it. I'm guessing that it offsets the blind faith that everyone has put into the system, people saying, "that will never happen to me..." or just hitting everyone at the core and denial sets in. I myself have not been a huge supporter of this 'system' and have seen it spiral out of control. I have seen it first hand not doing what it should be doing. It has flashy colors, billions of dollars dumped into it for the profit of others who don't care about the others, only themselves. I have been trying to see what is available to a self employed individual as far a medical coverage. If I thought that it would be any different than working for a heartless corporation, it is not. The red tape is everywhere. It disgusts me. I try not to participate but the ironic thing is that at some point I know I'll need it. Most likely when I am not insured and when times are tough. I can remember going to the doctor's office for allergy medicine, which in this country is not over the counter. It is a genetic thing and will not just go away. I have seasonal allergies, so every spring I get itchy red eyes and snot running a marathon out my nose. The sneezing is also in it's company making daily life a little more complicated. I don't have a serious chronic condition and by no means am I saying that I have it bad. I just can't imagine why I would have needed to go to the doctor on a monthly basis to get the medication I need when the correct amount should be prescribed in the first place. Getting an appointment was a chose to begin with. Try getting one within a week. Then you need to take time of of work which every employer in this country frowns upon, I'm trying to get better so that I can work more I thinking. What?! That's ludicrous. Heartless corporations, they're like viruses consuming everyone and rejecting the workers once their "value" to them has reached a certain point. This is one of the reasons I decided to work for myself. I am not in another predicament because even though I have removed myself from the corporate payroll roster, not only am I not eligible for their coverage, I'm still worked to a bloody pulp. Back to my original topic; for the 5 years I worked for company X, I had full medical benefits which I used them sparingly because I was young and had seasonal allergies. I now have to resort to other means for obtaining the drug which calmed my symptoms. I can take over the counter remedies but to simply obtain the thing that works is an impossible task without the prescription. That doesn't begin to describe what the millions of other who are simply denied coverage for such heinous BS. Too tall, too thin, too fat, wrong eye color, wrong skin color. I thought that these discriminations were abolished long ago. It is against the law to do this to random person on the street, why is it legal for it to be a reason to deny something that betters their life? I am really disliking where this country is going. It makes me ashamed to call myself an American. I am not better than anyone else, just an equal. Every country has it's problems, but in this one where it is a protected law to be able to express one's self, why does that all of the sudden offend others and allow them to make money from it? If I am free to be me and you are free to be you, why should it matter? Money has corrupted the soul. I wish for more peace and harmony which unfortunately scares the poop out of those in power because they think that a group of morons will challenge them and be right. Me, me, me - is their motto and that's all it's going to get them. What happened to embracing difference and the possibility to learn something new? Why do these people only think about themselves and the time frame in which they are in power? They are most certainly not the only ones in this country. Peace, Love and Happiness.
